Mothers Day Dates
"God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers" (Jewish Proverb).
Any proud West Virginian will tell you that Mother's Day is all thanks to Anna Jarvis and her 1914 campaign. However, the ancient Greeks where celebrating this day to worship Cybele, the mother of all Greek gods. The ancient Romans celebrated the goddess Juno on this day and gifts were given to mothers but this may have been because cows were also sacrificed on this day and guess who had to clean up afterwards?
